Works on Paper

Most of my paintings on paper come with a custom cut archival mat. I use Strathmore museum board for the mat and various coordinating colors of Crescent Select Conservation board for the back. I use these high quality matboards so you never have to worry about yellowing or other acidic damage.

The paintings are hinge taped to the backer board, so if you ever want to change out the mat you can easily do so. If you do change the mat, please be sure to use an acid-free matboard to keep your painting as safe from discoloration as possible.

Works on loose canvas

Large paintings on canvas, 24” and larger, may ship as rolled, loose canvas mailed in a large tube. It will be listed in the description if a painting is on loose, un-stretched canvas.

Paintings over 24” are very expensive to ship plus I love to work on loose canvas just stapled temporarily to plywood, so it makes sense to ship these paintings rolled up and you can have them stretched onto typical painting stretcher bars at your local framers.

The framer’s charge for stretching a canvas may vary widely so I recommend you call and get quotes prior to purchasing the painting.

If having a painting stretched locally is not convenient for you, I can stretch it here in the studio and ship it via fedex. Just be aware oversized shipping can be quite pricy but I am happy to get a quote for you, just reach out via email if interested.

If you are able to pick up locally, in Port Orchard WA, I am happy to discuss those options as well.

Large Works on Paper

For large paintings on paper, 15x22 and up, I typically do not ship these with a matboard because it is much more cost effective for the customer to roll these large paintings and ship them in a tube.

When you receive a rolled work on paper it will probably be much easier to mat and frame if you flatten it first. I recommend laying a large piece on parchment paper on a hard surface with no grooves in it, like a smooth dining room table, place the painting face down and place a second large sheet of parchment paper over the top and then stack, as evenly as you can, several large books. Leave to rest for 24-48 hours.

All the paintings on paper have been previously flattened so they should uncurl very easily. IF your painting on paper is still a little curled from shipping after resting as above, you can spray the back lightly with water, recover with parchment, and set it back under the book stack for a day.

If you’d rather your painting on paper ship flat with a mat, reach out to me via email or through the contact page and I can give you a quote.
